Biography

Aby is a MA student at WGSI with a background in philosophy and African studies. Her research is grounded in abolition feminism and Black feminist theories of the human. Her research considers how the positive project of abolition, which imagines new forms of anti-carceral infrastructure and socio-political organization, is tied to the radical reconfiguration of subjectivity and sociality. One avenue her research has taken is looking at the potentialities of liminal subject positions on the ‘fringes’ of the Man, such as through migration and the condition of statelessness. Aby is also interested in the political economy of carcerality and the proliferation of carceral technologies under neoliberal capitalism.
