Our Collective Strength: The Migrant Mothers Project

Date: November 7, 2013

Time: 5:30-8:00 p.m.

Location: William Doo Auditorium

The Migrant Mothers Project will be hosting “Our Collective Strength”, a community event to raise consciousness on the intersections of violence against women, precarious immigration status and human rights. This event is sponsored by the Community Knowledge Alliance (CKA).

The Migrant Mothers Project is a participatory action research project that examines how immigration policies shape women’s responses to violence. This event grew out of our collaboration with Toronto Rape Crisis Centre/Multicultural Women Against Rape and women who have precarious immigration status who took part in the solidarity group Nuestra Fortaleza.

“Our Collective Strength” will feature Poetry, Theatre and Digital Stories produced by women who are engaged in a struggle for human rights and dignity, while bringing visibility to the violence of immigration policies in Canada. Please join us to engage in dialogue, find inspiration, and exchange strategies for community building, advocacy and activism.

Please RSVP as space is limited.
