Research Seminar: Gina Starblanket

This seminar will explore Indigenous and decolonial feminist methods and voices across generations, provide examples and instances of decolonial feminist expressions, and guide participants through decolonial feminist writing methods and practices.

Dr. Gina Starblanket is an Associate Professor in the School of Indigenous Governance at the University of Victoria and the former Canada Research Chair in the Politics of Decolonization. She is Cree/Saulteaux and a member of the Star Blanket Cree Nation in Treaty 4. Dr. Starblanket’s writings take up Indigenous-settler relations, Indigenous movements towards political transformation, and Indigenous feminisms. She is the author of important sole and co-authored interventions theorizing relational responsibilities to the land, including Storying Violence: Unravelling Colonial Narratives in the Stanley Trial (ARP Press, 2020), Visions of the Heart: Issues Involving Indigenous Peoples in Canada (5th & 6th eds.) and the 3rd edition of Making Space for Indigenous Feminisms, 3rd ed. (2024, Fernwood Press).
