Kehkashan Basu, WGSI Undergraduate Student

Kehkashan Basu, a winner of the Children’s Peace Prize and founder of Green Hope, attended the World Summit of Nobel Peace Laureates in Merida, Mexico to conduct a Peace Lab workshop for the youth attending.

She travelled to New York to meet with UN Secretary General, He Antonia Guterres to be the Youth Moderator for the International Day of Peace events at the United Nations.

Kehkashan spoke at the Social Good Summit at a panel titled “Leadership in the face of crisis”, sharing the stage with Zoleka Mandela, Mary Robinson & Kerry Kennedy. She was able to share Green Hope’s grassroots activism on mitigating climate change by involving young people most affected by it.

She also spoke at the 2019 GoalKeepers Summit, a Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. Her foundation & team at Green Hope took part in the Global Goals World Cup at the SAP Centre, an event where sports (in this case football) is used to empower women in the Sustainable Development Goals process. Each team plays for one goal; Green Hope played for goal 13 – Climate Action.

We are immensely proud of Kehkashan and all that she has accomplished!
