Please join the Women & Gender Studies Institute at the University of Toronto for a two-day International Conference on “MENA Women: From Street Protest to Online Activism”, March 22nd and 23rd, 2018. Scholars, academics, researchers, feminist activists, gender rights advocates, public intellectuals, and new media activists will come together to discuss and examine how women in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) are making use of cyberspace and, in particular, social networking sites (SNS) to explore new possibilities of mass networking, to transform virtual sites into feminist spaces, and to fight against the increasing threats of surveillance and censorship. The conference is organised by Victoria Tahmasebi-Birgani, Assistant Professor of Women & Gender Studies at the University of Toronto, Canada. The conference is free and open to the public.
