Bev Bennett (1928 – 2022) Faculty, students and staff and our wider community at the Women & Gender Studies Institute were deeply saddened to learn that Bev Bennett has passed away. Although Bev Bennett preferred her extensive philanthropy to be anonymous, the WGSI wishes to acknowledge the significant donation she made during the formative years of the program, which is now recognised internationally for its MA and Doctoral programs and its focus on social justice. As WGSI celebrates the 50th anniversary of the first Women’s Studies courses at the University of Toronto, we pay tribute to all those on whose shoulders we stand on, one of the most generous of whom was Bev Bennett. We extend our condolences to her family.
